Civic Party leader Leong Kah-kit called Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying a moron last week. He said if Hong Kong is not allowed to have real universal suffrage for the chief executive election in 2017 "we can end up with a moron worse than what we have today." He should have said "we could end up with" instead of "we can end up with" but that is only a minor error. Leong Kah-kit loathes (dislikes greatly) Leung Chun-ying. That is why I am surprised he called the chief executive a moron. Since he loathes C.Y. Leung so much, he could have used a more insulting word.

        A s I have explained before, according to the Oxford dictionary, the words moron, imbecile, and idiot all have the same meaning. They all mean a stupid person. But I read an article that said in psychology (the science of the mind and behavior) an idiot is the most stupid person, with an IQ of between 0 and 25. An imbecile is not as stupid as an idiot, with an IQ of between 26 and 50. A moron is the least stupid, with an IQ of between 51 and 70. Therefore, by calling the chief executive a moron, Leong Kah-kit was actually saying C.Y. Leung is really not that bad. If he wanted to insult the chief executive in the strongest way possible, he should have said: "We could end up with an idiot worse than what we have today."

        But in psychology there is nothing worse than an idiot. So Leong Kah-kit should have said: "We could end up with an imbecile worse than what we have today." That would mean we could end up with an idiot who is even more stupid than the imbecile C.Y. Leung if Hong Kong did not have true universal suffrage in 2017. I think Commerce Secretary Greg So Kam-leung was really stupid to say Hong Kong can handle 100 million visitors a year, mostly from the mainland. But since he is my good friend, I do not want to call him an idiot. I hope he doesn't mind if I just call him a moron.

        公民黨黨魁梁家傑上星期叫特首梁振英做「笨蛋」（moron）。 他說，要是香港不容許二○一七年行政長官選舉有真正的普選，「我們最後可以（can）得出一個比現在這個更差的笨蛋（moron）。」他應該說 "we could（可能會）end up with" 而不是"we can end up with"，不過這都是小錯處。梁家傑憎恨（loathes）梁振英，因此我很意外他叫特首為笨蛋（moron）。既然他這麼厭惡（loathes）梁振英，他或會用一個更侮辱性的字眼。

        不過，按照心理學（psychology）的說法，沒有比idiot更差的了。因此，梁家傑應該說：「我們最終可能會得出一個比現在這個更差的傻瓜（imbecile）。」那即是說，要是香港在二○一七年還沒有真普選，我們最終會得出一個比傻瓜（imbecile）梁振英更笨的白癡（idiot）。我認為商務局局長蘇錦樑說，香港一年可接待主要從大陸來的一億遊客，真的很愚蠢。但因為他是我的好友，我不想叫他做idiot。希望他不會介意我只叫他做moron吧。
