Many readers have e-mailed me to say they agree that officials at the Transport Department are morons (idiots, imbeciles). I said in my column last week that Transport Department officials are morons because they don't care about pedestrians. They only care about vehicles. Pedestrians have only a few seconds of green light at traffic lights to cross roads but the Transport Department imbeciles give vehicles several minutes of green light, which means pedestrians have to wait a long time to cross. Many readers have e-mailed me to vent their fury at the Transport Department. To vent your fury means to express your anger. Tens of thousands of people took part in the July 1 protest march to vent their fury at Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying.
I
have written many times about the morons at the Transport Department but my words have fallen on deaf ears. If what you say falls on deaf ears, it means people are ignoring what you say. One elderly reader, who needs a cane to walk, e-mailed to say he has to walk through three pedestrian traffic lights just to cross Nathan Road near Argyle Street. This means it takes him a long time to cross just one road because at each traffic light he has to wait a long time for the green light to cross. The word cane has many meanings but in this case it means a walking stick that disabled or elderly people need to help them walk.
I have often seen elderly people unable to finish crossing the road in time before the green light turns red. Some drivers will then honk at them. These drivers are worse than morons. The elderly reader who e-mailed me said the Transport Department morons care only about vehicles because they think that is their job. That is why it is called the Transport Department. I think Hong Kong should have a Pedestrians Department. Why should there be a department for vehicles and not one for pedestrians? It is not fair. I am thinking of filing a complaint with the Ombudsman about the morons at the Transport Department.

To vent their fury即是發洩怒氣。
