H ui Chun-tak's English is far from perfect but at least he is not afraid to speak it, even during press conferences broadcast live on TV. Wong Chi-fung's English is passable, but at least he also has the guts to speak it now. Agnes Chow Ting, also of Scholarism, speaks good but not perfect English. I have interviewed her several times on my TV show. It is a crying shame that she has resigned as the spokesperson for Scholarism because of stress and fatigue (extreme tiredness) caused by her participation in Occupy Central.
The expressions "do wonders" or "work wonders" mean to have a very good effect on something. Regular exercise can do wonders for your health. The expression comes from the word "wonderful", which means extremely good or marvelous. The word "passable" means satisfactory or just good enough to be acceptable. I am sure if Wong Chi-fung speaks English more often, his English will become better than passable. The expression "a crying shame" means a sad or unfortunate situation. It is a crying shame that the standard of English in Hong Kong is deteriorating (getting worse). Occupy Central has worked wonders for the use of English in Hong Kong but I hope that government officials and students would not stop using English when Occupy Central comes to an end. Hui Chun-tak should continue to speak in English and Wong Chi-fung should speak to his girlfriend in English only so they can both improve their standard of English.

佔中為香港運用英語的狀況帶來奇效（done wonders）。學生和政府官員談佔中時都願意用英語，實在令人驚歎（wonderful）。我之前鮮有（hardly ever）聽見學民思潮的黃之鋒說英語，但自從佔中開始後，已見過他數度以英語接受傳媒新聞訪問。連《蘋果日報》的黎智英也得用英語回答傳媒問題。超過一星期，我看着警察公共關係科總警司許鎮德（見圖）在每天的記者招待會上，用英語回答問題和講話，交代受佔中影響的交通狀況。
許鎮德的英語難言完美，但至少他不怕說，即使記者會有電視現場直播。黃之鋒的英語還過得去（passable），可至少他現在有膽量講。同為學民思潮的周庭，說的英語不算完美，但亦不錯。我曾在電視節目上數度訪問她。很遺憾（a crying shame）她因為參與佔中所承受的壓力和疲勞，得辭去學民思潮發言人一職。
習語do wonders 或 work wonders均解為某事帶來良好果效。恆常運動可為你的健康帶來奇效（do wonders）。這個習語來自wonderful這個字，就是極好和奇妙的意思。Passable就是滿意或尚好，還可接受。我肯定若黃之鋒更多說英語，他的英文會比僅僅合格（passable）要好。習語a crying shame解作難過或不幸的狀況。香港的英語水平每況愈下（deteriorating），實在可悲（a crying shame）。佔中為香港運用英語的狀況帶來神效（worked wonders），但我希望即使佔中完結，政府官員和學生都不會停止用英語。許鎮德應繼續說英語，黃之鋒跟女友說話亦應單講英文，好讓二人都能改善英語水平。
