I don’t know which meaning Ho Sau-lan had in mind when she said the protesters in Admiralty were proud to be living in a situation of anarchy. But she must have gone off her rocker if she thinks it is good for Hong Kong to have anarchy. She said the Occupy Central protest area from Admiralty to Central, nicknamed “Umbrella Square”, is now a public area with fresh air, no traffic, and no police. She said there are no leaders, everyone is free to do what they want to do, protesters have set up food stalls, and they collect their own garbage and separate it for recycling. What she meant is that “Umbrella Square” has now become like a commune.
The word “commune” describes a group of people living together who share all their possessions, incomes, and responsibilities. I hope Ho Sau-lan will start to think straight. The protest area is nothing like a commune. It is an area occupied by protesters. The protesters do not share all their belongings, possessions, and incomes. Food is donated to them by supporters. Their garbage still has to be collected by the government. Most of the protesters go to work or school during the day and only return at night to sleep in “Umbrella Square”. They still use public transport. This means they still need to rely on the services provided by the government.
我認為立法會議員何秀蘭瘋了（gone off her rocker），俚語go off your rocker意思就發瘋或神經失常。何秀蘭上星期在一個英語電台上說了些傻話，令我立即以為她思路不清（thinking straight）。若你不是thinking straight，即是說你沒有清晰地思考。她說，在金鐘的佔中示威者都自豪於活在anarchy的處境中。她到底知不知道anarchy這個字的意思﹖Anarchy有兩個意思，一是指政治失序、人民目無法紀（lawlessness），政府不能管治；它也解作無政府狀態，人們享有完全的自由。
我不曉得當何秀蘭說在金鐘的佔中示威者都得意於活在無政府（anarchy）的處境中，她心裏究竟是哪個意思。但若她認為香港進入無政府狀態（anarchy）是好的話，那她一定是瘋了（gone off her rocker）。她說，從金鐘到中環、被稱為「雨傘廣場」的佔中示威區，現在變成一個空氣清新、沒有交通又沒有警察的公共空間。她說，那裏沒有領袖，人人都可自由做自己想做的事，示威者更設立小食檔，又會收集垃圾及分類回收。她真正的意思是，雨傘廣場現在已經變成一個公社（commune）。
Commune是指一群人住在一起，分享財物、收入，分擔職責。我希望何秀蘭可以開始清晰地思考（think straight）。示威區絲毫不像公社（commune），它是被示威者佔領的地區。示威者並沒有分享他們所有的財物、財產和收入，食物是由支持者捐贈的，他們的垃圾仍得由政府收集。大部份示威者在日間上班或上學，只在晚上才回到「雨傘廣場」睡覺。他們還得用公共交通工具。亦即是說，他們還得倚賴政府所提供的服務。mickchug@gmail.com
