W hen you fry things such as eggs or meat with very hot oil, you will hear a sound from the frying. That sound is called a sizzling sound. That's why the expression "a sizzling summer" means a very hot summer. Sizzling summers in Hong Kong have become more common in recent years because of global warming. A killer is a person who kills other people but the word has many other meanings when used as a slang word. When I say Hong Kong's sizzling summers are a killer, it means Hong Kong's summers are so very hot that they could kill you, although the word "kill" should not be taken literally when used this way.
If you say a person has "killer looks" it means that person is very attractive. A "killer exam" means a very difficult exam, but a "killer typhoon" is a typhoon that has actually killed people. Slang expressions such as "sizzling summers", "killer exam", and "killer looks" are used mostly by people with very fluent English. I never hear Hong Kong people use such slang expressions. The word "warped" means twisted or bent out of shape, usually by heat. For example, a thin piece of plastic can be warped (twisted) out of shape in the hot sun. When I said the sizzling summer heat warped the brains of lawyers who voted for Lam San-keung, I jokingly meant the heat twisted their brains out of shape, which is why they voted for him.
