T here are many ways to use the expression "pick on" but used this way it means to criticize or bully someone, often unfairly. The word "appalling" used this way means awful, terrible, or bad. It has a similar meaning to abysmal. The expression "let it go" means to stop thinking or worrying about it. For example, Chung Shu-kun can choose either to feel angry about being picked on or to let it go， which means to forget about the matter and not let it bother him. To be of two minds means to be unable to decide.
I am not of two minds about the simultaneous interpreter who translated Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying's answer to a question by Wu Chi-wai about the MTR in the Legislative Council last week. I am going to pick on her. The word simultaneous means happening at the same time. A simultaneous interpreter is a person who translates into a different language the words of another person at the same time that person is speaking them. The simultaneous interpreter translated Leung Chun-ying's Chinese answer into English but she wrongly said 「throw the baby out with the washwater". The correct idiom is "throw the baby out with the bathwater." To "throw the baby out with the bathwater" means to get rid of even the good parts of a plan when getting rid of the bad parts. She is a trained simultaneous interpreter and should not have made the mistake.

人人都在挑剔（picking on）立法會議員鍾樹根（圖）糟透（appalling）的英語。我此前從沒聽過他說英語。因此我不知道原來他的英語如此糟糕（abysmal），直至他用英語指責港鐵行政總裁韋達誠。我應否像其他人一樣，挑剔（pick on）他說的爛透（appalling）英語？抑或由它去（let it go）呢？我拿不定主意（of two minds）。這個專欄的目的是去幫助讀者改善英語，但我也曾說過多遍，即使文法糟透，人們也不應害怕說英語。因此，我猶豫不決（of two minds），不知應否批評鍾樹根的爛文法。
