A s I have explained before, the expression "civil disobedience" means peacefully disobeying laws. The organizers of Occupy Central want 10,000 people to participate. It is impossible to tie your own hands. If the 10,000 participants ask their family members to tie their hands for them at home, how will they get to Central with their hands tied? It is impossible to get your Octopus card or taxi fare from your pocket with your hands tied. If family members accompany (go with) them to Central to tie their hands, there would be far more than 10,000 people. If organizers tie the hands of 10,000 people, it would take a very long time. It would be difficult for the participants to tie each other’s hands because once the hands of one participant are tied it would be impossible for him to tie the hands of another participant.
Have you tried answering the call of nature with your hands tied? To answer the call of nature means to go to the toilet. The Occupy Central civil disobedience protest could last for days. This means the protesters will have to answer the call of nature many times. How can they do it, and also wash their hands after answering the call of nature, with their hands tied? What if some protesters want to pick their noses or scratch their backs? It is impossible with your hands tied. I think the organizers of Occupy Central should reject the loony (idiotic, crazy, silly) suggestion of participants tying their hands.

我最近讀到，佔領中環公民抗命（civil disobedience）的發起人（originator）戴耀廷，同意所有參與（participate）的人應該綁起雙手，表明他們會為了爭取真正的民主而和平示威。Originator是某事的創作者或發起人，例如面書的創始人（originator）就是朱克伯格。對於佔中所有參與者（participants，名詞）都綁手的建議，我仔細考慮（pondered）良久，但最終斷定（concluded），這是一個愚笨（brainless）的建議。
我之前亦有解釋過，習語civil disobedience即解作和平地犯法。佔中的主辦人希望有一萬人參與（participate）。你沒可能可以自綁雙手，要是一萬名參與者（participants）請家人在家中為他們綁手，那麼他們該怎樣束着手往中環？你沒可能束着手在褲袋中取出八達通或的士車費。要是家人陪同（accompany）他們到中環再替他們綁手，現場就會遠超過一萬人。若主辦者替那一萬人綁手，就得花很長時間。要參與者（participants）互相替對方綁手也是很困難的，因為只要某參與者（participants）被綁，他就不能替另一位參與者綁手。你有沒有試過綁着手時人有三急（answering the call of nature）？ To answer the call of nature即是去廁所解手。佔中公民抗命（civil disobedience）會持續多天，也即是說，示威者要屢次「解手」（answer the call of nature）。他們綁着手時可怎樣如廁（answering the call of nature），完事後又如何洗手？有些示威者要挖鼻或搔背又怎樣？束着手根本做不到。我認為佔中主辦者應否決這個要參與者（participants）綁上雙手的瘋癲（loony）建議。mickchug@gmail.com
