N ot much time remains to break this impasse, which means to end the deadlock. I have an idea on how to break the stalemate. Hong Kong should elect two chief executives. The democracy camp can elect Longhair Leung Kwok-hung. The pro-establishment camp can elect DAB member Lawrence Ma Yan-kwok. Longhair has said many times he does not love the central government. Ma Yan-kwok, who holds an Australian passport, has said he loves China. Recently, he used bad language in the Legislative Council to accuse Longhair of hating China. He said: “You’re not even a f**cking Chinese.”
If Hong Kong had two chief executives, it would be necessary to subdivide Government House. Longhair and Ma need to be kept at arm’s length (kept away from each other) or they will always be calling each other “f**cking Australian” and “not even f**cking Chinese”. But even a subdivided Government House would be much bigger than the subdivided flats many Hong Kong people live in. Hong Kong would have true democracy if we had two chief executives. Every time Longhair and Ma disagreed on a government policy they could decide with a fencing (the sport of fighting with swords) match. Financial Secretary John Tsang Chun-wah, who is a good fencer (noun), could teach them how to fence (verb). The fencing matches would be televised live on TV. Viewers would decide on the winner, just like on the popular TV show American Idol. No one can deny it is true democracy when TV viewers can decide on government policies by voting on who has won a fencing match.
