T here are many ways to use the word pang. For example, you can say "a pang of fear", which means a sudden fear, "a pang of hunger", which means suddenly feeling hungry, or "a pang of regret", which means feeling sorry for something wrong you have done. As I watched those four attractive mainland women enter another name-brand store, I suddenly had an idea to help me get over (overcome, deal with) my pang of jealousy. I'll try to lay my hands on shopping bags from upscale stores, fill them with clothes from Temple Street, and walk up and down Central pretending I am rich.
I'll even go to the Mandarin Hotel with my shopping bags for an expensive drink. But I'll definitely not go to see the French movie Amour with a cup of coffee while carrying my name-brand shopping bags because people will think I'm only middle-class. The expression "to lay my hands on" something means to obtain, get, or find something. If I succeed in laying my hands on shopping bags from upscale stores, my only worry is that I'll run into (happen to see) friends while walking in Central. They'll look inside the bags and know right away the clothes are not from name-brand stores. But I won't worry about that now. I need to lay my hands on some shopping bags from upscale stores. Do you know how I can do that?

Pang還可以有好些用法,例如你可以說a pang of fear,突然的驚恐;a pang of hunger,突然飢餓;又或a pang of regret,為自己做錯的事感悔疚。
習語"to lay my hands on" something解作取得或找到某物。要是我成功取得(laying my hands on)高檔(upscale)店的購物袋,我唯一的擔憂就是行走在中環時,會碰到(run into)朋友。他們會向袋內探視,立刻就知道那些衣服不是由名店(name-brand stores)買來的。不過現階段我先不去憂心這個,我只須找到(lay my hands on)高檔(upscale)店的購物袋便行。你又知不知道我可以怎樣找到?mickchug@gmail.com
